Matt Barnes
Matt Barnes is a Toronto-based photographer and director. He lives by the principle of photographing his world, and his work has been featured in Rolling Stone, Vogue, and Sharp. Matt has also worked Red-Bull, Virgin, Sony, Xbox, Budweiser, Pepsi, Jagermeister, Visa, and Molson. He went to Sheridan College, but dropped out a few courses away from graduation. Matt has also filmed a music video for the Sheepdogs, which he won a Juno for later on, and has been flown to South Africa for a commercial gig. He has worked with people such as Snoop Dogg and Bradley Cooper. He says his father, Ian Barnes, and boss, Ian Campbell, have played really significant roles in his career. His father bought him his first camera, and Ian Campbell let him use his space and gear. The two have really helped him along the way and played into who he is today. He also interned with Cindy and Kal at Silver Parrot Studio. Matt says that that experience helped him to realize that he can make a living from his passion for photography.
His photos are very well edited, and are well balanced. For the most part, they are bright and/or have a bright section of colour. They are very interesting, and feature a well-placed focal point. Something that catches the eye quickly. His photos are different from other photographers because of these features. They are so different and unique, it's easy to spot his work. Matt is always looking for new clients and projects. You can reach him at [email protected] or (416) 535-1955.
